PURPOSE: To prevent damage due to wear of a plunger pump and reduction of sealing property in a multi-stage compressor which constitutes at least one reciprocating compression section among a plurality of reciprocating sections out of the plunger pump provided with a labyrinth seal mechanism and compresses required gas at multi-stage in the interlocking relationship.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder liner 4 is formed out of ceramics, and a plunger piston 1 is formed out of hard metal having higher coefficient of linear thermal expansion than that of the cylinder liner 4. A clearance G between the cylinder liner 4 and the plunger piston 1 in the radial direction in a section excepting a labyrinth seal mechanism section is 4μm or more at ordinary temperature and 3.5μm or less at the temperature rise during normal operation of a multi- stage compressor, respectively.
