To solve a problem in a multi-type air conditioner for calculating a degree of superheat from an indoor heat exchange temperature and a heat exchange outlet temperature to correct a degree of an opening of an electrically operated expansion valve so as to converge to a target degree of superheat, in which if a larger correction pulse per correction is used for rapid reach to the target degree of superheat, the refrigerant cycle becomes unstable, and if a smaller correction pulse is used, it takes longer time to reach to the target degree of superhet.
An initial pulse is previously set for each configuration of an indoor unit and horsepower, based on the difference between the room temperature and the target set temperature to detect an absolute value of the room temperature so that the pulse is not changed even if the degree of superheat falls below the target.
