Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which when code object data made up of more than two code words is made into entropy codes, Huffman code decoders or two-value arithmetic code decoders after dividing the code words into bit planes are applied; Huffman code decoders are generally lower in compression efficiency than arithmetic code decoders, and in arithmetic code decoders after dividing the code words into bit planes, execution speed is reduced by the bit plane division.SOLUTION: An arithmetic code used when the number of code words is two has been invented before. In order to allow the arithmetic code to be expanded in the case of the number of code words being more than two, an original section is divided into sub-sections the number of which is the number of code words.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
