PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collectively convert wavelengths of each channel of multi- wavelength signal light into other wavelengths respectively, without going through the intermediary of electrical signals.
SOLUTION: This multi-wavelength conversion device comprises an optical demultiplexer 1 for receiving a multi-wavelength signal light and demultiplexing it into signal light of each wavelength, plural wavelength converters 3-1 to 3-4 for outputting wavelength-converted light individually converted into other wavelength, and an optical multiplexer 2 for multiplexing the wavelength- converted light of each wavelength outputted from each wavelength converter, and outputting them as multi-wavelength signal light. Moreover, control light is inputted to the wavelength converters 3-1 to 3-4, and four-wave mixing light obtained from the signal light and the control light, or a control light modulated from the signal light is outputted as a wavelength-converted light.
