Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated digital signal processor by providing a general-purpose processor and a vector processor which can be driven in parallel to the processor.
SOLUTION: The multimedia processor 110 is provided with a processing core 200 containing a general-purpose processor 210 and a vector processor 220. The vector processor 220 executes an instruction having the number of vector operations. The general-purpose processor 210 and the vector processor 220 can be scalars or super scalars, which execute independent programs. The general-purpose processor 210 extends a RAM 7 instruction set containing the instruction to an interface with the vector processor 220 and it is connected to the vector processor 220 by a control bus 212. Then, it executes the extension of the RAM 7 instruction set. Furthermore, the vector processor 220 uses an interruption line 222 and it requests interruption on the general-purpose processor 210.
