PURPOSE: To make a pallet apparatus compact by providing a stopper device for stopping a pallet one stage above a desired one of pallets movable up and down along an elevating guide in a sealed condition and then lowering the lower stages of pallets to define a space for permitting access to articles.

CONSTITUTION: When it is desired to take desired articles out of a multistage pallet apparatus having a plurality of pallets 14 movable up and down along an elevating guide 10 in a sealed condition and each adapted for receiving articles such as process films of p.s. size, a selector button corresponding to a desired pallet 14' is pushed in a control unit. This drives an elevating device 16 to move the whole pallets 14 to a height where a pallet 14" one stage above the desired pallet 14' can be caught by a stopper device 29 and to stop them at the position. Then, the stopper device 29 is actuated to engage a stopper member 29a with the pallet 14". Subsequently, the elevating device 16 is lowered by a predetermined stroke to define an access space S between the pallets 14', 14" to permit access to the articles in the pallet 14'.
