PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvalent alkyne compound excellent in heat resistance, a thermosetting resin composition, a thermoset article and an insulation material.SOLUTION: There are provided a multivalent alkyne compound represented by the formula (1) and a thermosetting resin composition containing the polyvalent alkyne compound. (1), where Aris a C6 to 30 aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have one to three C1 to 6 hydrocarbon substituent, Xis a hydrocarbon group with 6 to 30 carbon atoms and containing necessarily a C6 to 18 aromatic hydrocarbon atom, n is an integer of 1 to 10, A is a hydrocarbon group having an alkyne group or hydrogen, and less than 50% of A is a structure represented by hydrogen.SELECTED DRAWING: None
