PURPOSE: To automatically inhibit music which does not match a state where a user is placed from being played when the user selects the music by reading word data corresponding to a specified state item out of a storage means and judging whether or not the word data is found in the text data of the specified music.
CONSTITUTION: A 1st data base DB1 is stored with various state items αi and key words Kij of texts which do not match the respective states in correspon dence relation. The user of 'KARAOKE' (recorded orchestral accompaniment) device specifies the number of a state item αi confirmed by ten-key operation and then specifies the number Am of desired music to be played. A CPU 1 retrieves a 2nd data base DB2 in a storage device 4 to read an (n)th text word Nmn of the music corresponding to the music number Am, and compares it with the key words of improper texts regarding the state item αi, one by one. When no text word Nmn matches the key words Kij of the improper texts regarding the state item αi, a message of 'This music can not be played.' is displayed on a CRT monitor 17.
