NEW MATERIAL:An N-(3-aryloxypyrazolyl)amidoxime compound expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, hydroxyl group, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylamino or anilino; L is alkylene or arylene; R3 is imide or nitro; X is H, halogen, alkylthio or arylthio; n1 and n2 are 0-5, provided that R1 and R2 may link to form a ring).

EXAMPLE: A compound expressed by formula II.

USE: Useful as a synthetic intermediate for 1H-pyrazolo[1,5-b]-1,2,4-triazole-based magenta couplers, useful as a silver halide color photographic sensitive material and having an aryloxy substituent group at the 6-position.

PREPARATION: For example, an alcohol is added to a nitrile expressed by formula III in the presence of an acid and the resultant product is then reacted with an aminopyrazole expressed by formula IV. The obtained reaction product is subsequently reacted with a hydroxylamine solution to afford the compound expressed by formula I.
