Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new N-alkylamide alkanol sulfuric ester salt widely useful as a cleaning agent for hair, skin, tableware, etc., having low irritation to skin, excellent foaming power and cleaning power.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I [R1 is a 6-22C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 is a 1-22C alkyl, alkenyl or H; R3 is a l-5C alkylene; R4O is a 2-3C alkylene; (n) is 0-20; (n) R4Os may be the same or different; M is H, an alkaline (earth) metal, ammonium, an alkanolammonium having 2-9 total carbon atoms, an alkylammonium having 1-22 total carbon atoms, an alkenylammonium, a 1-18C alkyl- or alkenyl-substituted pyridinium or a basic amino acid] such as sodium N-dodecyl-1-sulfoxyacetamide. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula IT with a compound of formula III to give a compound of formula IV, reacting the compound of formula IV with an alkylene oxide in the presence of an alkali or an acid catalyst to give a compound of formula V, reacting the compound of formula IV or formula V with sulfating agent and then neutralizing.
