Abstract:
PURPOSE: To effectively utilize the storage capacity of a memory for program storage and improve the processing speed.
CONSTITUTION: This disk controller has restoring means 11 and 13 which restore compressed programs among control programs loaded to work memories 5 and 6, a use frequency decision means 8 which decides the use frequencies of the control programs loaded to the work memories 5 and 6, a compressing means 9 which compresses the control programs of low use-frequency according to the decision result, and writing-back means 10 and 12 which save the compressed control programs to the memory 4 for program storage from the work memories 5 and 6.
