Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a circuit for limiting the output current of an interface driving circuit without requiring any current sensing element for an output current path.
CONSTITUTION: This circuit 35 is provided for limiting the output driving current from the interface driving circuit composed of driving transistors 48 and 50. This circuit 35 is utilized for two purposes with an external serial supply resistor 30 as the current sensing element. The voltage drop increased between the external resistors 30 caused by an excessive current pulled out through the driving transistors 48 and 50 is coupled to a control transistor 38 and in response to the increased voltage drop, this control transistor decreases the base driving current to the driving transistors 48 and 50.
