PURPOSE: To increase durability improving cutting sharpness by a method wherein an outer blade of a reciprocation type electric razor is made of two different kinds of material layers stainless blade steel layer and a nickel layer or a nickel alloy layer and a specified value is set for a thickness ratio in the outer blade of the nickel layer or the nickel alloy layer.
CONSTITUTION: An outer blade of a reciprocation type electric razor is made up of two different kinds of material layers a stainless blade steel layer 1 and a nickel layer or a nickel alloy layer 2 and a thickness ratio in the outer blade of the nickel layer and the nickel alloy layer 2 is set at 30-70%. As a result, a distortion value in an elastic area increases with a smaller Young modulus as compared with a type using the stainless blade steel layer 1 alone to eliminate a gap between the outer and inner blades and with a better adhesion between both the blades, a pressing force with the inner blade 3 is made uniform to improve cutting sharpness. Moreover, as compared with the type using the nickel layer or the nickel alloy layer 2 alone, an allowable stress of fatigue strength is enhanced to achieve a longer life of the outer blade 4. When a blade edge part is made of stainless blade steel, the wearing of the edge of the outer blade can be reduced.
