PURPOSE: To surely prevent occurrence of lack of stock caused by collapse of seedling before it happens irrespective of operation of engagement and disengagement of a clutch with part of planting mechanism.

CONSTITUTION: In a seedling planting device equipped with a clutch capable of disconnecting transmission to part of planting mechanism of plural rows, a handling member 22 of the clutch is coupled with an artificially operated handling tool through a spring for stroke absorption. In an intermediate position of a working stroke of the handling member 22, a checking member 26 which is engaged with the handling member 22 and can freely check and prevent displacement from clutch engagement position to clutch disengagement position or displacement from the clutch disengagement position to the clutch engagement position is installed in such a way that the checking member is changeable in position from the checking action position to the checking release position and can be returned to the checking action position. Handling mechanism 29 to change the position of the checking member 26 to the checking release position only in a state a seedling placing stand 1 being in the vicinity of reciprocating stroke ends is laid.
