PURPOSE: To provide a ribbon cassette having a simple structure and capable of certainly preventing trouble such that an ink ribbon is bonded to the guide roller guiding the ink ribbon immediately after printing.
CONSTITUTION: In a ribbon cassette 13 wherein an ink ribbon 18 is trained over a pair of freely rotatable reels 15 and the intermediate part of the ribbon route of the ink ribbon 18 is led out to the outside and a recessed part 25 in which a printing head 24 is arranged is provided to the intermediate part, the guide roller 17B facing to the ribbon route of the ink ribbon 18 and supported in a freely rotatable manner in contact with the ink layer of the ink ribbon 18 immediately after printing is allowed to protrude from the ribbon cassette 13 toward a platen to be provided at the position close to a printing head 24 in a printing state.
