PURPOSE: To enable the promotion of photosynthesis and efficient raising of a high-quality plant in raising the plant by irradiating the plant with light from light source parts.
CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for raising a plant is constituted by installing a bench 1 assembled in the form a box, a plant-carrying shelf 2 installed on the bench 1, light source parts 3 and 4, hung from the ceiling part of the bench and capable of irradiating a plant on the plant-carrying shelf 2 with light therefrom, using metallic halide lamps or high-pressure sodium lamps (HPS) as the light source parts and enabling the microadjustment of the access distance to the plant. Thereby, the microadjustment of the irradiation distance from the light source parts can freely be performed according to the raising conditions of the plant and the raising efficiency and homogeneity of the plant can readily be maintained to remarkably improve the product yield. Not only the life of the light source parts can be remarkably improved but also the light irradiation area can be enlarged at a high illuminance and to provide a lower power consumption.
