Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus capable of efficiently performing nitrifying and denitrifying treatment using a single treatment tank, having a compact structure, reduced in washing frequency and capable of being simply washed.
CONSTITUTION: A fixed bed A and a fixed bed B both of which are adjacent to each other are packed with granular matter having a three-dimensional reticulated structure and waste water containing ammoniacal nitrogen is passed through the fixed bed A as a descending stream to be biologically denitrified and the treated water is passed through the fixed bed B as an ascending stream to be biologically nitrified and a part of the outflow water from the fixed bed B is circulated to the fixed bed A and air diffusing members are provided to the lower part of the fixed beds A, B.
