Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a sitter to be easily seated on an armchair from its lateral side and to find his way out of the armchair without being impeded by the arm rest.
SOLUTION: This arm rest structure consists of a pivotally supporting member 11 with a boss plate part 9 fixed to a chair frame and a horizontal threaded rod part 10 projected from the boss plate part 9, a fluctuation regulatory pin 12, and a fluctuating piece 14 attached to the main body 13 of an arm rest. In aclditiony the structure is equipped with an auxiliary mounting plate 15, an anti-slippage flat washer 16 coming into contact with the external face of the auxiliary mounting plate 15, a nut member 17 for slippage prevention screwed into the horizontal threaded rod part 10 of the pivotally supporting member 11, and an outer and an inner friction plate 18, 19 coming into contact with the external and internal faces of the fluctuating piece 14 respectively in freely slidable fashion. The main body 13 of an arm rest is subjected to the control of its fluctuation between the horizontal state and the vertical state.
