PURPOSE: To perform the recording of a transmissive original and a reflected original by easy and simple operation without complicated constitution.

CONSTITUTION: A driving unit 300 driving a transmission exposure unit 350 is attached to the upper surface of a machine base and controlled by a substrate 306. By depressing a transmission exposure button after the transmissive original is set by opening an original platen cover, the exposure unit 350 is moved to a transmission exposure start position so as to perform transmission scanning exposure. When the transmission exposure is finished, the exposure unit 350 is moved from an exposure finish position to a unit holder 390 and housed therein. Since only the exposure unit 350 is moved, housing space therefor is small and the operation is easy.
