PURPOSE: To provide the method and device which analyze, select, operate, display, and search relations between variables in a data base having many variables.

CONSTITUTION: Normally, arrays of graphic displays as scatter plots 210 are included. Each scatter plot 210 indicates relations between several subsets of variables in the data base. Scatter plots 210 are mutually connected so that arbitrary mathematical conversion of an independent variable in one plot changes other variables in accordance with relations between the independent variable to be converted and subordinate variables. Mutual connection is applied to color selection, and logical operations are performed in accordance with colors of plots. A plot uses a specific access reference to be able to other secondary displays. Secondary displays can access other displays. All displays are mutually connected.
