Abstract:

PURPOSE: To quickly accelerate the cut length portion cut from a moving web to move it at high speed by providing a means periodically cutting the length portion of web material from the web, and a means capturing the cut length portion on a support member and transporting it at the surface speed of the support member.

CONSTITUTION: A moving web 10 is led passing through the surface of a rotating web support member 18. In this case, the support member 18 has the faster surface speed than the speed of the moving web 10 so that the web 10 slips on the support member 18. Next, the length portion of web material is periodically cut from the web 10 on the support member 18 by a cutting means 44. The cut length portion 58 is attracted to the surface of the support member 18 by an attraction means 28 to be captured on the support member 18. The captured cut length portion 58 is transported at the surface speed of the support member 18.
