PURPOSE: To obtain excellent color reproducibility and color developing property, and especially, to improve fastness against light of a magenta dye image by incorporating a specified magenta coupler.

CONSTITUTION: This photosensitive material contains a magenta coupler expressed by formula I or formula II. In formulae I, II, R1 is a hydrogen atom or substituent and R2 is a hydrogen atom or substituent. Ar1, Ar2 are aryl groups and Ar1 and Ar2 may be same or different, and further, Ar1 and Ar2 may have substituents. X is a hydrogen atom or a group which can be released by the reaction with an oxidant of a developing agent. This pyrazoloazole magenta coupler is preferably used with an image stabilizer in one layer, however, the image stabilizer may be used in the layer adjacent to the layer containing this coupler. The compsn. of silver halide preferably used is silver chloride, silver chloride bromide, or silver chloride iodide bromide. This material can be preferably used for a color negative film, color paper, etc.
