Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an antibacterial and antifungal composition effective for imparting stable antibacterial and antifungal activities to a resin surface and causing nearly no environmental pollution even if dissolved from the resin, and to provide an antibacterial resin or antibacterial caulking material produced by using the composition.
CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial and antifungal composition, especially an antibacterial composition having the above effects can be produced by supporting (A) an antibacterial material, preferably a metal complex salt, more preferably one or more kinds of complex salts of metal selected from silver, copper and zinc, especially a thiosulfato metal complex salt such as thiosulfato silver complex salt on (B) a porous granular carrier, preferably a carrier at least partly surface-coated with a coating material, especially silica gel particle at least partly surface-coated with a reactive organic silicon compound chemically bonded with the particle. An antibacterial resin or antibacterial caulking material is produced by compounding the composition to a resin or a base material of a caulking material.
