Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the title carrier for waste water treatment, food production etc., capable of maintaining its surface at its optimal temperature, improved in the warming efficiency for the reaction system, to be used for chemical reactions taking advantage of microorganisms immobilized on a carrier, which is directly warmable internally. CONSTITUTION:The objective carrier to be used for chemical reactions for waste water treatment and food production, etc., taking advantage of microorganisms. This carrier directly warmable internally can be obtained by ensuring it to be maintained at an optimal temperature for growing microorganisms immobilized thereon through either heat generation of an exothermic body embedded inside a carrier using a material such as ceramic, glass, plastics or silicone rubber or direct warming by allowing a hot fluid flow through communicating holes therein. The present carrier 1 consisting of e.g. a silicone tube, is formed into a coil, set up in the treatment tank 5 for a microorganism-utilized waste water treatment unit, and connected to a warm water circulator 2 to circulate warm water; a substrate is then introduced from a substrate tank 9 into the treatment tank 5 while agitating its inside with an agitator 7, and the resulting waste water is discharged into a tank 11 where the waste water is put to microorganism treatment.
