To provide a thickening system which can thicken and further gel an oil-in-water type nanoemulsion form composition without affecting the cosmetic characteristics of the composition.
This oil-in-water type nanoemulsion containing an oil phase dispersed in a water phase, wherein the oil nanospheres have a number-average size of <150 nm, is characterized by containing at least one oil, at least one amphiphilic lipid, and at least one polyethylene glycol ester or ether having formula: R1-(O-CH2-CH2)n-OR2 (I) [R1 is a 8 to 30C alkyl or acyl which is linear or branched and is saturated or unsaturated; R2 is H, a 1 to 30C alkyl or acyl which is linear or branched and is saturated or unsaturated; (n) is a number of 80 to 350], and having an oil/amphiphilic lipid amount ratio of 1 to 10.
