Abstract:

To provide a narrow hole electric discharge machine having a compact and inexpensive linear motor as a driving source of a servo control feed mechanism for an electrode.

A W-axis slider 3 of an elevating axial feed mechanism is provided on a column 1, a gas damper 5 is fitted to the W-axis slider put in the fixed state in electric discharge machining, a Z-axis slider 7 is connected and held on the gas damper, and the Z-axis slider is fitted to the W-axis slider to be elevated and moved through rectilinear guide devices 4, 8. A linear motor 9 is interposed between the Z-axis slider and the W-axis slider, and a machining head holding a rotating narrow hole machining electrode 11 is mounted and held on the Z-axis slider. A rectilinear position detecting device for the Z-axis slider is fitted between them, and the servo control feed device of the Z-axis slider for controlling the driving output of the linear motor according to a detection feed back signal from the position detecting device is controlled according to a discharge gap machining state detecting signal and simultaneously narrow hole machining using a rotating electrode is advanced.
