To provide a liquid natural gas liquefaction system and a liquid natural gas liquefaction method which are stable and operable at full rates and during turndown, and are used for larger capacity liquefaction plants.
The natural gas liquefaction system comprises: a first precooling refrigeration system 106 that accepts at least a natural gas feed stream; a second precooling refrigeration system 108 that accepts at least a first refrigerant stream; and a cryogenic heat exchanger 146 that is communicated with the first precooling refrigeration system 106 and the second precooling refrigeration system 108 and that accepts the natural gas feed stream from the first precooling refrigeration system and the first refrigerant stream from the second precooling refrigeration system to liquefy the natural gas feed stream. The second precooling refrigeration system 108 accepts only stream(s) having a composition different from the stream(s) accepted by the first precooling refrigeration system 106.
