To apply point information written in an external storage device to object words and phrases of speech recognition without having to capture the point information as point information inside a navigation system main body.

The navigation system comprises: a point information storage part 161 for storing object words and phrases of speech recognition in the external storage device 15 as point information; a speech recognition object word and phrase determination part 171 for determining whether object words and phrases of speech recognition are contained in point information stored in the external storage device; a speech recognition dictionary registration part 172 for registering words and phrases determined as object words and phrases of speech recognition in a speech recognition dictionary 18 provided in the inside of the navigation system main body; a speech recognition processing part 173 for detecting whether object words and phrases of speech recognition corresponding to a user's speech data are registered; a point information reading part 162 for reading point information from the inside of the external storage device 15 on the basis of detected object words and phrases of speech recognition; and a map display part 43 for displaying the read point information on a display means 10 with map data corresponding to the point information.
