Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries high in capacity and superior in cycle characteristics.SOLUTION: A negative electrode active material for secondary batteries comprises particles including a silicide matrix and silicon domains distributed in a silicide matrix. In the negative electrode active material for secondary batteries, the volume percentage of the silicon domains is 40-70 vol.%. The negative electrode active material for secondary batteries includes regions A in which the silicon domains having an envelope diameter of less than 300 nm are distributed, and regions B in which the silicon domains having an envelope diameter of 300 nm or more are distributed.
