Abstract:
To provide a negative electrode for a lithium ion battery, which is superior in cycle characteristic, and a lithium ion battery which uses the negative electrode.SOLUTION: A negative electrode 1 for a lithium ion battery comprises: a negative electrode current collector 10; and a negative electrode active material layer 20 composed of a non-binding body containing negative electrode active material particles 30 and a conductive assistant agent 40 and formed on the negative electrode current collector. The negative electrode active material particles contain silicon and/or silicon compound particles. The conductive assistant agent is such a conductive carbon filler that the average value of the maximum Feret diameter of unit particles is 0.001-0.1 times the volume average particle diameter of the negative electrode active material particles in a conductive assistant agent projection image obtained by a method compliant with JIS Z8827-1:2008. The content of the conductive assistant agent in the negative electrode active material layer is 5-25 wt% to a total weight of the negative electrode active material particles and the conductive assistant agent.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
