Title:
NEGATIVE ELECTRODE FOR LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY AND LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3609612
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase discharge capacity and enhance cycle characteristics by including a carbon material and at least one of oxides of silicon, germanium, and tin.
SOLUTION: As an oxide, lithium-containing silicon oxide, lithium-containing germanium oxide, and lithium-containing tin oxide are preferable. As a carbon material, carbon having a spacing of (002) planes as determined by X-ray diffraction of 3.39 &angst or smaller and a crystallite size in the direction of C axis of 300 &angst or larger is desirable as the main material of a negative electrode. The particle size of the oxide is 1-10 μm. The oxide is mixed to the carbon negative material in the range of 1-10 wt%. The oxide and the carbon material are kneaded together with a binder, such as polytetrafluoroethylene or polyvinylidene fluoride, and used as a mix. As a solvent constituting an electrolyte, ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate, or the like can be used. As an electrolyte salt, lithium hexafluorophosphate is stable and superior.
