To provide a network interface apparatus or the like for preventing printing work from being delayed when it is impossible to perform authentication because an authentication server is downed.

When a user designates to print data, a printer driver transmits a job to a printer 1000. If an NIC 700 does not monitor a port on the printer 1000, the job is output from the printer 1000. When the NIC 700 monitors it, the job is stored in a mass storage 500. When the user holds an IC card 410 over a card reader 400, the card reader 400 reads card ID 211, and informs the printer 1000. An LDAP server 200 transmits user name retrieved from an LDAP directory 201 to the printer 1000. The printer 1000 obtains the job agreeing with the user name from the mass storage 500, and outputs the received job.
