To obtain the subject new steroid compound, a specific 17-(3-imino-2- alkylpropenyl)-5β,14β-androstane derivative, active on the cardiovascular system and usable in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders such as heart failure and hypertension.
This new androstane derivative is shown by formula I {wavy line means α- or β-configuration; double bond represents E-configuration; R1 is H or (NR5R6)2-4C alkyl (R5 and R6 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, or joined together with N into a 5- or 6-membered saturated heterocycle which optionally contains O and N); R2 is H or OH; R3 is methyl, ethyl or n-propyl; R4 is a group of formula II [R7 to R9 are each H, methyl or (NR5R6)2-4C alkyl], OR10 (R10 is the same kind as R7) or the like} and useful in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders such as heart failure and hypertension. This compound is obtained by condensation reaction of an aldehyde derivative of formula III with a compound of formula II and a compound of the formula, H2NOR10.
