Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new antibiotic rubymycin having low toxicities, and useful for an antibacterial agent, an antitumor agent, an antiviral agent, an anti-methicilline resistant staphylococcus aureus agent, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This new antibiotic rubymycin comprises a compound of the formula. Furthermore, the compound has the following physicochemical properties: molecular weight: 698; molecular formula: C33H30O17; melting point: 213-214°C; ultraviolet absorption spectra: λmax(ε) 231(51870), 312(20342), 336(11734), 507(7412), 523(7006), 540(7440), (MeOH); infrared absorption spectra (KBr-Disk) (cm-1): 3440, 1720, 1618, 1458, 1250. Furthermore, the compound of the formula is obtained by collecting the compound from the cultured medium culturing bactria capable of producing the new antibiotic rubymycin such as a bacterial strain MJ929-SF2 strain (FERM-P-14380) belonging to Streptomyces genus.
