PURPOSE: To obtain new antibiotic substance AB4015-B and AB4015-L having antibacterial activity and plant blight pathogen controlling activity and useful as an antibacterial agent, fungicide for agricultural and horticultural use, etc., by culturing a microorganism which belongs to the genus Phoma, capable of producing antibiotic substance AB4015-B in a medium and separating the substance from the cultured product.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism which belongs to the genus Phoma, capable of producing antibiotic substance AB4015-B [e.g. Phoma sp. AB4015 (FERM P-13206)] is inoculated to a medium and cultured at 25°C under shaking for 5 days using a rotary shaker. The microbial cells are collected by filtering the culture liquid, extracted by adding methanol and filtered to obtain a cell extract liquid. The extract is mixed with water and chloroform and extracted by thoroughly shaking the mixture. The chloroform layer is collected and concentrated under reduced pressure and the concentrate is purified by chromatography to obtain the new antibiotic substance expressed by the formula I (R1 is group of the formula II and R2 is group of the formula III for AB4015-B; R1 is group of the formula IV and R2 is group of the formula V for AB4015-L).
