Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the antiinflammatory and analgesic topical gel preparation containing a propionic acid-type norsteroid compound as an active ingredient and reduced in side effects and in irritating actions on gastrointestinal tracts. CONSTITUTION: This antiinflammatory and analgesic topical get preparation contains 0.5-5 wt.% of a propionic acid-type norsteroid compound (ketoprofen), 10-25 wt.% of ethylene oxide-propylene oxide block, water or a buffer solution, and one or more kinds of alcohol selected from lower alcohols, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol and glycerol. If necessary, a skin-irritating agent such as menthol, camphor or an eucalyptus oil, a preservative, etc., may be added. The buffer solution has a pH value near to the pk value of the antiinflammatory and analgesic propionic acid-type nonsteroidal compound. The objective topical preparation exhibits a clear excellent appearance, does not irritate skins, has a more excellent antiinflammatory arid analgesic effect than that on oral administration, and reduces an irritation action on gastrointestinal tract.
