PURPOSE: To obtain a thermally fusible copolymer, having a specific glass transition point, percentage of water absorption and permittivity, having a specified structure, excellent in mechanical strength, radiation, chemical and heat resistances, low-temperature characteristics, processability, adhesion, low water absorptivity, dielectric characteristics, etc., and useful for laminated heat insulating materials, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This thermally fusible copolymer has 100-250°C glass transition point, ≤1% percentage of water absorption and ≤3 permittivity and has a structure of formula I {Ar1 is a tetravalent organic group (e.g. benzene-1,2,4,5- tetrayl or biphenyl-3,3',4,4'-tetrayl); Ar2 is a bivalent organic group [e.g. a group of the formula-Ph1-O-Ph1-O-Ph1-(Ph1 is 1,3-phenylene)]; R is a group of the formula Ph2-C(CH3)2-Ph2 (Ph2 is 1,4-phenylene) or (CH2)2; X is a group of formula II, III or TV; (m) is > O; (n) is > 0; [(m)+(n)] is ≥l; (l) is ≤1}.
