PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new electrically conductive polymer soluble in an organic solvent and/or water and having excellent processability, exhibiting high electrical conductivity, having thermal and mechanical stability and useful as a new structural material for electric and electronic industries, etc., including the use as an electrically conductive material, electrode, etc., as a simple substance or a composite material and to provide an excellent method for the production of the electrically conductive polymer.
SOLUTION: The electrically conductive polymer contains repeating units having chemical structures expressed by general formula (I) and general formula (IV). The invention further relates to a method for the production of the polymer.
