Abstract:
To identify and obtain an enzyme and a gene involved in NADH production for Gluconobacter bacteria, intensify the NADH productivity of the Gluconobacter bacteria by utilizing the gene, and thereby improve the ability to produce a useful substance such as xylitol.
A method for producing an aimed substance needing NADH for its reducing reaction in biosynthesis involves using Gluconobacter bacteria enhanced in the activity of one or more enzymes involved in NADH production, e.g. a trans-aldolase-glucose-6-phosphate isomerase conjugate, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, ribulokinase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.
