Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a gene having unknown function and provide a technique concerning utilization of the gene.
SOLUTION: Diagnosis of renal cancer, colon cancer, prostatic cancer, acute myeloid leukemia or chronic myeloid leukemia is carried out by examining the expression of the DEDD2 gene using a PCR primer or a hybridization probe containing a DNA encoding a new protein (DEDD2) shown by the following (A) or (B) or a part of the sequence thereof: (A) A protein having the amino acid sequence represented by a specific sequence. (B) A protein having an amino acid sequence represented by a specific sequence including substitution, deletion, insertion or addition of one to several amino acids and having an activity of inducing cell death.
