Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a laminar porous body having superior function as a catalyst, an adsorbent or a separating material by intercalating a copolymer of a hydrophilic monomer with a metal alkoxide having a double bond between layers of an inorg. laminar compd. swollen with water and firing them.

CONSTITUTION: A hydrophilic monomer such as (meth)acrylamide, isopropylacrylamide or diacetone acrylamide is copolymerized with a metal alkoxide having a double bond such as vinyltrimethoxysilane, vinylethoxysilane, dimethylvinylmethoxysilane or methacrylate propyltrimethoxy titanate. The resultant copolymer is intercalated between layers of an inorg. laminar compd. swollen with water and they are fired to obtain the objective inorg. laminar porous body. The inorg. laminar compd. used is, e.g. Na montmorillonite, Ca montmorillonite, acid clay or synthetic mica.
