PURPOSE: To obtain high purity Li2O particles having satisfactory sphericity and uniform in particle diameter by converting Li compd. particles formed by a specified process into Li2O particles by firing.
CONSTITUTION: When Li2O particles are produced by forming Li compd. particles and firing them, the Li compd. particles are formed as follows; in Li compd. is dispersed in a carrier soln. which is solidified under specified conditions and is thermally decomposed at a specified temp., the resultant dispersion liq. is dropped under the specified conditions to form Li compd. dispersed particles and these particles are fired to thermally decompose and remove the carrier. It is preferable that the carrier soln. gels in a specified soln. and causes perfect thermal decomposition by firing. An aq. soln. of a polymer resin compd. satisfies these conditions.
