To obtain a new compound useful for coating and printing plastics such as resist ink, metals, wood, paper, etc., capable of providing a cured material excellent in adhesiveness to a substrate, flexibility, heat resistance, electrical insulating properties, heat resistance, etc.
This new (meth)acrylic acid derivative comprises a phenol-based compound which contains a cyclic terpene skeleton in the molecule as a basic skeleton and is an adduct of 1mol of a phenol to 1mol of a cyclic terpene compound, such as p-menthanylphenyl acrylate. The compound of the formula is obtained by dissolving p-menthanylphenol and sodium hydroxide in methanol and reacting the solution with a solution of hydroquinone in acryloyl chloride by dripping this solution.
