Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a dialkyl carbonate industrially advantageously in high yield from an alcohol and urea.
This dialkyl carbonate is obtained by reaction between urea and an alcohol of the general formula ROH (R is a 3-6C aliphatic alkyl group) under pressure at 140-270°C in the presence of a catalyst consisting of at least one kind of metallic simple element selected from zinc, magnesium, lead, calcium, titanium and tin, or compound thereof.
