Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new microorganism having oil-decomposability and to provide an efficient treating method for oil-containing waste water by a fluidized carrier activated sludge process in which problems such as generation of sludge according to a usual technique or burning of oil component have been solved, and to provide a treating apparatus for it.
SOLUTION: This new microorganism is Stenotrophomonas maltophilia FERM P-15162 having oil-decomposability. A carrier activated sludge and/or granular activated sludge obtained by attaching the new microorganism on clinoptilolite is brought into contact with oil-containing waste water in flowing and under an aerobic condition to biologically treat the oil-containing waste water. The objective fluidized carrier organism-treating apparatus is obtained by providing an inverted cone-shaped dispersing plate in the upper part of an air lift part in a fluidized carrier organism-treating apparatus having at least an air lift part, an air blowing-in part, a circulation part and a carrier separating part to treat a waste water by bringing the waste water into contact with a carrier attaching the microorganism in flowing and under an aerobic condition.
