Title:
ARAMID FIBER CORD FOR POWER TRANSMISSION BELT AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3708993
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an aramid fiber cord capable of preventing the single fibers thereof from fraying even if exposed on the edge face of a power transmission belt in its molding, and capable of improving the adhesivity of the cord to matrix rubber, and also excellent in mechanical strength and fatigue resistance.
CONSTITUTION: Aramid fibers treated, in advance, with a polyepoxide compound, are twisted so as to be e.g. 1-5 in twist multiplier K and then impregnated with a treating agent containing resorcin-formalin-rubber latex(RFL) under reduced or increased pressures and, as necessary, further imparted with the RFL-contg. treating agent, thus obtaining the objective aramid fiber cord for power transmission belts, which has the following characteristics: RFL-contg. treating agent pickup: 5-35wt.%; the mechanical strength yield of treated cord: ≥95%; air-wicking effect after embedded in rubber: ≤0.03mL/min; and the cord strength retention after model belt fatigue test: ≥75%.
