PURPOSE: To obtain a new N-benzoylamino acid derivative, capable of checking peroxidation of lipids and useful for treating and preventing diseases directly or indirectly related to a pathological oxidation process and aging of a cell.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 are OH which may have acetyl or 1-6C alkoxy which may be substituted with phenyl; R3 is OH, 1-10C alkoxy, 1-4C alkoxy which may be substituted with phenoxy that may have an N-containing substituent group or NR4R5 (R4 and R5 are H, OH, 1-12C alkyl, substitutive l-4C alkyl or, together with the adjacent N, form a 5- to 6-membered heterocyclic group); (n) is 2-15], e.g. 4-{N-[2,5-di(benzyloxy)benzoyl]amino}-butyric acid. The compound expressed by formula I in which R3 is other than NR4R5 is obtained by reacting a benzoic acid expressed by formula II or its derivative suitable for acylation with a compound expressed by formula III.
