Abstract:
To provide a nickel catalyst having more excellent hydrogenation activity.
An active metal consisting essentially of nickel is carried on a surface of a carrier consisting essentially of aluminum oxide and magnesium oxide to form the nickel catalyst. In the nickel catalyst, a peak intensity ratio of Al and Ni (Al/Ni) at each position obtained by TEM-EDX analysis at 30 positions is between 1.0 and 1.2 with probability of 90% or more and their mean value is also between 1.0 and 1.2.
