To provide nickel positive electrodes whose oxygen generating overvoltage when charging is effectively raised, and an alkaline secondary battery which has high charging efficiency at high temperatures and which can exert a sufficient performance under severe conditions.
Fine particles of titanium or titanium compound are contained in the nickel positive electrodes. It is preferable that the fine particles are contained from 0.005 to 0.5 wt.% against the weight of the active substance of the positive electrode, and that their average particle size is from 1 to 80 nm. It is preferable that the titanium compound is titanium oxide, and that it is anatase type. As for a manufacturing method of the nickel positive electrodes, titanium or titanium compound is suspended in an alcoholic solvent, and this suspension is added to the active substance of the positive electrode. These nickel positive electrodes can be used for the alkaline secondary battery.
