Title:
NICOTINE RECEPTOR AGONIST IN STEM CELL AND PROGENITOR CELL RECRUITMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008291040
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
To provide a method for recruitment of bone marrow-derived stem cells (e.g., endothelial cell precursors, hematopoietic stem cells) by administration of nicotine or another nicotine receptor agonist.
The method can be used in, for example, the treatment of conditions amenable to treatment by recruitment of bone marrow-derived stem cells (e.g., neutropenia). The figure is a graph showing the capillary density (capillaries/myocyte) and the percentage of new vessels incorporating endothelial progenitor cells for saline control animals and nicotine treated animals.
